WHAT A VALENTINE!

To the much maligned faculty, staff, and students of Cairo Junior/Senior High School...Hold Your Heads High!

Why?

Cairo School District Number One received word today from the Illinois State Board of Education that CJSHS made AYP!!!

Below you will see the form that reports the test results...and it's confusing.

Bottom Line...Look in the small box on the upper left side of the page.

To the questions:

The answers are Yes, Yes, Yes!

The fine print will show that CJSHS did not do what Bennett did last year...which was exceed the targeted level of 47.5%. However, CJSHS managed to make what is called "safe harbor"...a significant improvement upon its previous level...by a bunch! CJSHS needed 33.2% to make safe harbor in reading...and scored 39.6%. CJSHS needed 21.7% to make safe harbor in mathematics...and scored 38.7%

The figures in the chart reflect BOTH the junior high ISAT testing and the 11th Grade PSAE testing!

So...CONGRATULATIONS...to one and all who played a part in this outstanding success...the administration, the teachers, the support staff, concerned citizens, parents, and, of course, most especially the students.
