BILL BRADY IS A SCALAWAG

Did I say that?

Nope...

Honest Abe!!!

Checked out my news sources at 3 a.m. Nothing...

No problem...another favorite source usually starts "publishing" at 4 a.m.

What to do?

Wore myself out on Freecell yesterday and reading doesn't come easy in the wee hours. Could finish the 6th season of LOST...but, that would lead to a heavy decision this evening..."What to watch?"

Damn...this retirement life is fraught with so many stressful decisions...

Then I remembered the IEA Web Site...that I had tried visiting over the weekend and it was "unavailable".

It crossed my mind at the time: "Uh, oh...have they banned me over my catty remarks?"

Anyway, this morning...

Went to the CAT Tracks Home Page (aka the CAT House)...as you so often do, clicked on the IEA link...still "unavailable"!!! Whassup???

Looked up in the box at the top where the Internet address was displayed..."http://www.illinoiseducationassociation.org/". Hmmm...

I knew that to be incorrect...it's supposed to read "http://www.ieanea.org/". Again..."Whassup with that???" It used to work!!! Doo dee doo dee doo dee doo dee...

I cranked up my web page editor, entered the new address, returned to the CAT House, uh, Home Page, clicked on the IEA link...VOILA! The IEA Home Page...

Upon making my successful landing, the first thing my eyes did light upon...a link to a "Bad News Day" story about Republican Candidate for Illinois Governor Bill Brady (whom some rabid, left-wing zealot labeled the "Anti-Christ" last week.)

BTW...the big buzz in education circles this past week was NOT whether Bill Brady should be dubbed the "Anti-Christ" for his education/pension views. It was whether AFT President Randi Weingarten should be compared to Osama bin Laden - a cowardly terrorist...hiding in a cave. (Hmmm...again. Me...blogging from my self-anointed "CAT cave". Do I resemble that remark?)

Okay, okay, back to the IEA Web Site...

Before I could click on the Bill Brady "had a bad day" link, my eyes shifted. (Damn..."shifty-eyed" ex-CAT, hiding in a cave. This is getting scary...)

Yes, before I could click on the Bill Brady "had a bad day" link, my eyes shifted to another link...what was termed a "Featured Video" entitled "BAD FOR SCHOOLS"...that included an unflattering picture of Bill Brady, complete with IEA logo.

Folks...run, do not walk, to a computer that has broadband Internet access. Hell (oops, probably straying into dangerous waters there)...if you have "dial-up" click on the link, go have breakfast, and return for a stinging rebuke of Bill Brady by none other than the 16th President of the United States..."Honest Abe".

Maybe they will now get off this old shifty-eyed, ex-CAT's case, blogging from his cave...and focus instead on Abraham Lincoln, commenting from his grave!

The Illinois Education Association Web Site...

BTW...

Here's the non-video story about Bill Brady's press conference - something for you dial-up folks to do while you are waiting...

Brady’s bad news day

October 5, 2010 by Charles McBarron

The Illinois visit of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was supposed to be a highlight of the Bill Brady for governor campaign. Christie became a darling of the right wing by telling a teacher who argued for reasonable compensation that she could find another line of work.

No wonder Brady wanted Christie to campaign for him.

Unfortunately for Brady, today’s big event didn’t work out the way he wanted because the reporters present actually remembered what Brady has said in the past and compared it to what he’s saying now.

For example, Brady has blasted Gov. Quinn’s decision to delay the state’s pension payment while Quinn tried to pass a plan to borrow the funds. Brady said the governor should make the payment from available funds (though that would mean massive cuts in state services) and Brady worked to block Quinn’s borrowing plan in the legislature.

Yet today, there was Bill Brady, standing next to Gov. Christie, who dealt with his state’s financial crisis by withholding New Jersey’s $3 billion pension payment.

Not only that, but Brady admitted that, if elected, among the options he would consider to manage the state’s financial crisis would be a $50 billion borrowing plan.

Once the questions starting coming fast and furious, the news conference was cut short, making this another bad day for Brady, who has to be concerned about reports that the big lead he once enjoyed has evaporated as voters have become aware of where he stands on the issues,

The election is Nov. 2. You can compare the positions of Brady and Quinn here.
