Read about this "movement" last week...
...just goes to show that you can never let your guard down.
You receive good news that a bipartisan effort in Illinois to implement the national Republican agenda of going after the pensions of public employees has (at least temporarily) failed...
...only to hear that IL Democrats have moved a step closer to abolishing workers'-freaking-comp.
According to last week's articles (and receiving "honorable" mention below), this legislative action is "just a ploy"...to put pressure on the parties who are negotiating needed changes in the system, to get their attention.
If IL Democrats are "successful", what about the thousands of workers (50,000 a year according to the article below) who will be caught in the middle "pending" passage of new legislation???
Reminds me of the "rationale" used during the Vietnam conflict:

Ill. Senate panel OKs ending workers' compensation
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A proposal to end workers' compensation in Illinois moved a step closer to reality when it was approved by a state Senate committee.
The legislation now goes to the Senate floor. Approval there would put abolition on the governor's desk.
The Senate Executive Committee split along party lines in the 9-6 vote.
Democrats say efforts to fix the costly workers' compensation system have failed, so now it's time to start over.
Critics call the idea irresponsible and say it makes Illinois look bad.
Ending workers' compensation would mean the court system handles injury claims.
That could mean 50,000 cases a year in the courts, a situation that could slow payments to injured workers and expose business to the risk of huge lawsuit awards.
The bill is SB1933.
