Another (expletive deleted) Democrat taking up the Republican banner of "education reform".
Congratulations, Sheila...you have made my (growing) list of politicians for whom I will never vote. (I was going to say "again", but I just remembered...I didn't vote for you last time. Since you were on the same ticket with "The Mighty Quinn" (who had already made my sh*t list), I couldn't vote for you.

Simon: Ill. community colleges must improve
SPRINGFIELD — Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon says many Illinois students fail at community colleges because they need better preparation in high school and more support from the colleges.
She says four out of five students in community college don't get a degree or certificate within three years. Many drop out with nothing but debt.
Almost half of recent high school graduates take at least one remedial course, usually in math, when they enter community college.
In a report being released tomorrow, Simon calls for students to take math classes in all four years of high school.
She also wants colleges to issue "report cards" on student success rates. Simon says state funding for community colleges should be tied to performance.
