CAT Tracks for March 16, 2012
CSD #1 - HELP WANTED...REALLY!

From the March 15th edition of The Cairo Citizen...

So there!

As you can see clearly now...

...the rumor is wrong!

Contrary to what ex-BOE Member Danny Brown (a former insider) might say...

...contrary to what ex-CAT Member Ron Newell (the quintessential outsider) might wanna bet (given 2-1 odds)...

The Cairo Board of Education is really, really, REALLY searching for a new Superintendent of Schools.

As you can see clearly now...

...it's in the paper, the REAL paper, The Cairo Citizen...not that raggedy pulp fiction (aka CAT Tracks.)

So, it MUST be true...

...the reign is gone, over!

"He Who Shall Remain Nameless"...

...shall remain jobless, cottageless.

"What Mr. Brown said..." (about the BOE planning to bring back 'he who shall remain nameless')..."is totally false."

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

An observation and a catty comment:

  • Advertisement (as pictured above) is required before filling the position to be vacated by CEO/Interim Superintendent Justin M. Miller at the close of business on June 30, 2012. The position would have to be advertised even if Mr. Miller were returning...it's a contractual thing. So, the posting of an ad in the newspaper means...NOTHING!

  • Think it's time for a contest: What reason(s) will be be cited by the Cairo Board of Education when they bring back "he who shall remain nameless" (in light of last night's proclamation by BOE President Artie McBride that THAT rumor is "totally false"?)

Since "Top Ten" lists are popular, I'm soliciting your input...

...just what will the BOE's excuse be when "he who" (according to repeatedly and emphatically denied rumor) makes his triumphant return to settle his "unfinished business down there"?

I'm going to start the ball rolling with my "Top Three":

  • Number 3: We looked high and low for a replacement. (Catty Comment: Low Won!) We wanted Justin Miller, but ISBE and the FOP required that we follow a hiring process. Our hands were tied. Justin was always our man; he knew that. But, then he blind-sided us, left us (to take a position in Carbondale) leaving us between a rock (LIL ROK 9) and a hard place. YOU didn't like the two applicants that we showcased at the public meeting. We listened to your concerns and re-advertised the position, but no qualified applicants came forward. We have to have a Superintendent of Schools. ("He who shall remain nameless") does know the District...has the experience. (Catty Comment: If it weren't for BAD experience, "he who" would have no experience at all...gloom, despair, and agony on us.") What were we to do?

  • Number 2: We didn't say that "he who" wasn't coming back...read your damned CAT Tracks! We said that the "rumor" that we were planning to bring him back was "totally false". (And, until you can prove otherwise), that's our story and we're sticking to it!

  • And, the Number 1 reason that will explain why "he who shall remain nameless" will return on July 1, 2012 to begin another 100 days and rake in another $50,000 to supplement his retirement income:

DISCLAIMER: Okay, the BOE won't actually say/give the reason below to justify their actions/inactions. It's one of those actions/inactions speak louder than words things.

Can I get a drum roll please?

The Number 1 reason why "he who shall remain nameless" will be baaack:

    Sh*t happens.

POSTSCRIPT:

Two things...

  • Regarding my "Number 1" reason above for what transpires in Cairo School District Number One..."Pardon my French."

  • Atonement: Send me your reason (limit one per customer...looking for quality not quantity) for my "Top Ten" list (justifying the BOE bringing "he who" back despite their assurance to the contrary at last night's meeting.) I (as sole and final judge) will pick a "winner". If it comes to pass that "he who" does NOT return to Cairo School District Number One, I shall donate $100 to the winner's favorite charity. (Disclaimer: Again, the prize money does not go to the person who submits the winning entry. I will make the check out to and sent it to an organization of the winner's choice. No prize money will be awarded if "he who" returns for the first semester of next year. Hey...my contest, my money, my rules.)

So...put on those thinking caps.

It's time to get catty!!!
