VII. Approval of Treasurer's Report - CEO/Interim Superintendent Justin M. Miller read the highlight. He also commented that the budget was tracking right on schedule (for a $605,000 deficit.) He indicated that there was more revenue than anticipated, but that it was offset basically dollar for dollar by unanticipated bills. An amended budget will be need to be passed in June (a usual occurrence.) A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the Treasurer's Report.

VIII. Approval of Payment of Bills/Payroll - There were a couple of minor questions. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve payment of bills/payroll.

IX. Informational

  1. Thank You Card - Family of Norma J. Johnson

  2. Letter to Capital Development Board - A result of a phone call from Becky Smith of the Capital Development Board. In 2003, CSD #1 applied for and was approved for a construction grant for an addition to Emerson. The local plans fell through and the money was never actually received. The Capital Development Board wants to "close the books" on the grant and needs an official letter from the District declining the money. A draft letter was in the BOE members' packets.

  3. High School Seniors Attending Beta Club Broyhill Leadership Conference - July 20-25 in Gaffrey, SC - Plans for four Junior girls to attend. Thanks to the efforts of Sponsor Ryan O'Shea, the expenses for the students have been covered. The District would only be responsible for transportation. (This was a "heads up" item...the girls have applied but have not yet received approval.)

  4. Presentation by Wilma Carter on Behalf of the E.R. Duncan Center For The Arts - Wilma Carter made the presentation, but I was seated directly behind her and she spoke too softly for me to hear (despite my going to Paducah today for a hearing aid tune-up.) Others in the audience nodded as if they heard, so it's my bad!

  5. Other - None.
