SPECIAL BOE MEETING...MINUTES

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

For catty sakes, I have kept the original "lead" to this posting.

The "minutes" are posted below the notice and agenda...

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Busted...once again!

First it was the disaster of my pre-meeting minutes...

...not it was my "assumption" of this morn's "heads up".

I designated the usual starting time for Tuesday's meeting...6:00 p.m.

Oh, but no!

Tis 6:30 p.m.

Hey...

...maybe they are going to eat BEFORE coming to the meeting instead of DURING!

That was a "maybe"...

...I shall say no more until what happens happens!!!

The Cairo Board of Education held a Special Meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. Below are brief minutes...

I. Call to Order - 6:30 p.m.

II. Roll Call - Coleman, Harris, Nelson, Burris, Gooden, and McBride. (Moore arrived at 6:41 p.m.) Also present for the meeting was FOP Member Andrea Evans (designated to sit in on the interviews of candidates for Superintendent.)

III. Recognition and Comments from Employees and Public - None. However, Interim Superintendent/CEO Justin M. Miller took this opportunity to inform the BOE that this week was Teacher Appreciation Week and that today was National Teacher Day. Mr. Miller said that he wanted to express the District's appreciation for "present teachers and those who came before. (Yeah, I broke out in a Cheshire Cat grin!)

IV. Approval of Agenda - Special Meeting - Motion made, seconded, and passed.

V. Open Session - Mr. Miller announced that the BOE would be interviewing one candidate for the vacant position of CSD #1 Superintendent...that said candidate would be arriving at 7 p.m.

VI. Closed Session - The BOE voted to enter closed session at 6:32 p.m. (Interview actually started early...at approximately 6:45 p.m. and ended at 8 p.m. FOP Member Andrea Evans left the meeting/building at 8:21 p.m.) The BOE voted to exit closed session at 8:45 p.m.

VII. Requiring Action/Decisions By Board of Education - None. Mr. Miller indicated that the BOE would look the information acquired and proceed to the next step in the process at the next meeting. (No indication whether that would be a special called meeting or the next regular meeting which is May 17th.)

VIII. Adjourn - Motion made, seconded, and passed to adjourn at 8:46 p.m.

But...

...don't go away!

POSTSCRIPT:

Tonight's applicant was Andrea Evers (ironic in that the FOP member sitting in on the interview was Andrea Evans.)

Andrea Evers currently works in Lincoln, IL (Springfield area). However, her husband works in Paducah, KY and they have a home in Kevil, KY. She is white...but, not venturing any age guesstimate!
