CAT Tracks for January 15, 2013
REGULAR BOE MEETING...AGENDA PLUS

Basically what you see/saw in the agenda below is what you got.

The meeting was called to order at 6 p.m. and all BOE members were present.

Cairo Elementary Principal Rose Gayle Pickett introduced Teacher Mary Beth Goff and three of her 6th Grade students to make a presentation under "Examples of Excellence".

Ms. Goff (evidently aware of my laments about not being able to hear) kindly provided me with a copy of the handout that she presented to the BOE:

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

As you can probably see from the "quality" of the pages above, my scanner has taken a turn for the worse. There was a third page to the handout - an example of the handwritten letters that the students prepared and sent out. Unfortunately, the combination of my scanner and a poor photocopy made reproduction impossible.

BTW: I had previously read about the Paper Clips Project and saw the documentary film. Very interesting and powerful. (YouTube Video)

Ms. Goff and her students are to be commended for undertaking such a serious and informative project.

The BOE was in closed session from 6:23 p.m. until 7:17 p.m.

They then voted to approve all items "Requiring Action/Decisions By Board of Education".

The meeting was adjourned at 7:23 p.m.

PS: Right before adjournment, Superintendent Andrea Evers announced that there would be a joint meeting of the Cairo BOE and the Cairo FOP next Thursday...to immediately follow the regularly scheduled FOP meeting. (The FOP meeting begins at 11 a.m. and Superintendent Evers indicated that it would be short, maybe 30 minutes, with the joint meeting to follow. She added that the subject of that joint meeting would be "transitional issues"...prompted by the fact that this is the final year of the Cairo FOP. As of June 30, 2013, it will cease to exist and financial control will be returned to the Cairo Board of Education.)

PPS: I shall bite my catty tongue...OUCH!
