CURIOSITY & THE CAT

Bless me, Father, for I have sinned...

...after repeated denials, I actually did watch the not-so-great debate.

Believe me when I say that I am truly contrite for my actions and vow amendment of my deviant behavior...

...no more Obama-Romney debates for me!

(I will have to admit to lingering curiosity about the Biden-Ryan debate...to see if Ryan indeed has horns and a tail.)

For my penance, I shall say three Our Fathers and three Hail Marys and an equal number of Glory Be's...

...even though I said plenty of the secular versions of that latter expression last night during the debate.

Oh, Father...

...that reminds me.

About that cussin' thing...

Yes...

I succumbed to my baser instincts, yielded to the ever-present call of curiosity.

BTW:

I agree with the opinions of the Thursday morning quarterbacks I have read...

Mitt Romney was the clear winner!

Although appearing in the most pressure-packed situation - sharing the stage with the incumbent President of the United States with millions of viewers tuning in to watch the train wreck...ready to pull the plug on a dying campaign - Romney avoided making his usual stupid remarks.

(Attention: Romney handlers. You can exhale now!)

Accordingly...

President Obama was the loser...failing to knock out a challenger who entered the ring battered and bleeding. Obama appeared as a reluctant witness for the defense (of his record for the past four years)...playing rope-a-dope, calmly taking repeated body blows from a hyped if desperate challenger.

The challenger showed unusual flash and poise, but no substance...adamantly avoiding answering the call for any details on what he would do differently to solve the economic mess.

Oh, Romney was very clear that he was in favor of less...less "trickle-down government", but, as the challenger tries to sell the argument that Obama, in four years, has failed to lead a country still mired in an economic mess brought on by "his" Republican party under eight years of George W. Bush...

...well, to me it's a tough sell, a hypocritical sell, to think that offering less leadership is an attractive answer.

Does anybody out there (except the 1%) truly believe that sitting on your hands while the United States burns is a viable alternative? Hell, even Nero fiddled around some!

So...

...I remain underwhelmed.

President Obama played it safe last night...decided to sit on his lead...wait for a Romney debacle...that never happened. Assuredly, the "Professor" and his handlers are clearly rethinking that strategy this morning.

Mitt Romney earned street cred by sharing the stage with the incumbent and not living down to very low expectations...successfully keeping his feet firmly planted on the floor rather than sticking them in his mouth.

Poor Jim Lehrer.

Mr. Irrelevant.

If Jim is the moderator of the next debate, I hope he finds a pocket watch...and the cojones to use it.

BTW:

In the hours surrounding the debate, I actually did keep my "campaign promise" and finished watching Season 4 of Fringe...

...receiving the cliff-hanging finale's warning from the human-friendly "Observer", Mr. September, that:

"They're coming!"

Below is a short review of last night's presidential debate by a liberal Democratic "Observer"...

Losing Eugene Robinson is not like losing Walter Cronkite (as President Lyndon Baines Johnson did during the Vietnam War), but...

...this incumbent president had best take heed of this warning delivered by an Obama-friendly "Observer" in early October...

Mr. President:

The Republicans...

"They're coming!"

...after YOU!!!

From the Washington Post...

Obama was there in body, but in spirit?
