EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

No "Bag of Tricks"...

From Education Week...

Classroom Management: More Than a Bag of Tricks

...loved the "Quiet Spray".

Take it from a dinosaur...

...despite the negative reviews, there's still a lot to be said for "Don't Smile Until Christmas".

Yeah, I actually bought the book...

...still have it.

Since it was published during my second year of teaching, I would venture a guess that it was a reflective purchase (a desperate purchase?)

I mean...

I had already cat-paddled my way through my probationary period...

(Yes, another of my "baby pictures".)

...had developed my own "sink or swim" classroom-management style.

Maybe it was out of curiosity...

...did I do it "by the book"?

Looking back...

I was fortunate, indeed, to have received my induction into the teaching profession during "the good old days"...

...when students were students and teachers were (relatively) respected and supported.

Today?

With Jeb Bush and company (Republicans and Democrats) pushing their asinine, research-defying education "reforms"???

Why does anyone wonder why half of all new teachers quit during the first five years!!!
