CAT Tracks for April 17, 2013
REGULAR BOE MEETING...AGENDA

UPDATE:

Follow-up to the meeting...

First of all, there was an amended agenda available:

  • The first page remained the same

  • The second page had three additional items under #9. Requiring Action/Decisions By Board of Education:
    • Resignation of the recently hired guidance counselor for next year. Superintendent Evers indicated that Elizabeth M. Nelson had taken a job in Central Illinois.

    • Amend FY14 School Calendar

    • Authorize the School Maintenance Project Application

All three of the above items were approved by a majority vote of the BOE.

As for the meeting...

All BOE members were present except for Arnold Burris.

Examples of Excellence - There was a presentation by three CJSHS faculty members (Charlotte Loveless, Catherine Scott, and Ronnie Woods). The presentation involved the participation and achievement of 32 7-12th Grade students in the Scholastic READ 180 program. (A handout of results was distributed and is reproduced below the CSD Treasurer's Report.)

Superintendent Andrea Evers made mention of several items under her report:

Closed session was from 6:25 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Have already covered the passage of the three new items on the "Amended Agenda".

The BOE approved the original agenda items. (Now that it has been approved, I have scanned and posted the new BOE policy for use of District facilities...again, following the Treasurer's Report below.)

...except that the BOE tabled the two items pertaining the proposed new position of "Junior/Senior High School Campus Safety and Hallway Monitor".

Adjournment was at 9:04 p.m.

POSTSCRIPT:

There will be a Special BOE Meeting next Thursday (April 25th) at 6 p.m. for the purpose of reorganizing the BOE. Hopefully, the official election results will be in hand by that time.

FOOTNOTE:

Upon leaving the meeting, attendees had to exit "over the hill" as the highway was closed due to water over the pavement.

Below is the intro to the original post...

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Advertise a new position?

"District Security Officer"?

A BOE relative or friend in need of a job?

Can't negotiate a new contract with teachers?

Can't afford a pay raise for teachers?

Yeah, I'm curious...

Enquiring CATs want to know!
