GUEST RANT |
An admirer of Marilyn Rhames, I am not!
Oh, I posted one of her off-the-wall columns once before, but only in order to voice my outraged objection.
Marilyn's posts, in my opinion, can be a little too racially charged at times (although there are those who would say that about me. :-)
However...
Marilyn's latest post is such an "equal opportunity rant" that I must yield the floor to her this morning.
Go get 'em, Marilyn...
...every damn one of them!

CAT Track's Editor's Note:
It is a given that I loved Marilyn's attack on Obama and Duncan...I mean, what's not to like, and her assessment is oh so true (unlike Arne the Duncan's claim to fame as a "successful" education reformer.)
I will admit...
It crossed my editor's mind to drop Marilyn's diatribe into the circular file when she went after lazy, tenure-protected "failing teachers" in the closing schools:
But, when she quickly contradicted herself in her "Poverty" paragraph:
Well, I decided to let it slide.
I mean...
Which is it, Marilyn?
Are the teachers not working...
...or are they trying like hell, but fighting the unbeatable foe of poverty?
But, all in all...
Gotta say, I enjoyed your rant!
CPS Teachers: If teachers in those closing schools would just do their jobs, their students would not be failing and the mayor would have never closed the schools. Failing students equal failing teachers. Period. They treat tenure like their golden parachute.
Schools in poverty are destined to fail regardless of how hard teachers and administrators work.
