Cape Girardeau school officials hold clothing drive for new dress code

Evidently, students in Cape Girardeau are doing well on standardized testing...

...so the school board decided they needed something to occupy their day.

Enforcing the loooooooong and detailed dress code oughta serve the purpose!

At least the school district is lending a helping hand...

...collecting clothing so that their financially-challenged students can pass muster.

This is so 60s...

...dresses two inches above the knee. (Get those rulers out, teachers!)

I didn't see anything about hair length...

...wonder if it can touch those collared shirts?

This article gave me a flashback...

I attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale back in the 1960s...returned as both a student and a national guardsman in the early 70s. The student attire at SIU during that time period was, shall we say, casual.

Then, as I briefly pursued an advanced degree, I attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau in the early to mid-1970s.

Oh My God!

My first day on campus, I thought I had become a time traveler...

...whisked back into the 1950s, the Beaver Cleaver period.

The students were soooooo clean...the females in dresses, some of the male students actually sporting ties. And, they were so, well, white!

Good to see that Cape Girardeau Public Schools are maintaining the fine traditions of their community...combating that slippery slope leading to the 21st Century.

At least (to my knowledge) neither the Cape School Board nor the Cape City Council has followed the lead of the Jefferson (IL) County Board...

No Gay Marriages in Jefferson County

Then, again, Cape Girardeau takes pride in being the hometown of Rush Limbaugh.

Now there is a fountain of tolerance...
