CSD #1 BUILDING DONATIONS |
The article below should answer some of the concerns raised by anonymous naysayers on Cairo Topix...
However...
Detractors take "hope"!
The Cairo Financial Oversight Panel tabled the donation at its Regular Meeting on Thursday, July 26th.
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
It is my personal "hope" that the delay is simply to allow the lawyers time to cross the t's and dot the i's...and that the donations go through.
If not, the buildings will sit empty and join so many others in becoming weedy, crumbling eyesores. (Anyone taken a look at the Cairo Armory lately? Or the buildings with the numbers spray-painted on them?)
Someone suggested that CSD #1 donate the buildings to the City of Cairo...which is finally trying to unload its $250,000 albatross called Riverlore (and having no success.) Hell, the City of Cairo can't even afford to fill the potholes in the city's streets! What's it going to do with two huge buildings?
Why do so many residents of Cairo fight "outsiders" who offer help...
...when they have absolutely nothing to offer themselves?
An appropriate adage...
Lead, follow, or get out of the way!
POSTSCRIPT:
When I went back to get the link for Cairo Topix, I noticed that the focus has already shifted...
...to the next school board election.
Need to find candidates to run, candidates who care about kids, blah, blah, blah.
Absolutely nothing will come of this except talk...
...just like two years ago, and the two years before that, etc.
From the July 26th edition of The Cairo Citizen...
