SLIPPERY SLOPE |
Last week, I passed on posting the results of the latest IEA-sponsored poll that reflected support by the public (when properly informed) for teachers' pensions.
Yes, the poll results were encouraging - especially since Governor Quinn has promised a grassroots campaign to win public support for his pension-reform campaign.
But...
You don't think that the Mighty Quinn will come out with the results of his own poll...numbers to support his attack on public pensions? Ask the right questions, get the answers you want!
So...
It concerns me that the President of the Illinois Education Association is placing such emphasis on the poll results detailed in the article below.
What happens when the winds of fickle public opinion shift...espcially in the anti-teacher environment we find ourselves today? What happens when Governor Quinn waves the results of his poll under your nose and proclaims: "The public has spoken...and you said we should abide by their will!"
It's one of those adage moments:
"Be careful what you ask for..."
...it may eventually bite you on the butt!
