SOME WISHFUL THINKING |
From The Week...
The NFL referee lockout: A huge win for organized labor?
CAT Tracks Editor's Note
Memo to Teachers:
Don't get your hopes up!
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker...
...a born-for-the-first-time supporter of labor unions?
Puuuuuuuuleze!
No...Scott Walker is a (politically correct?) die-hard Packers fan!
Hell, if Scott Walker had his druthers...
...some court would issue an injunction forcing the old refs to come back to work at whatever wage the replacement refs are getting - no benefits, no protections, no contract...ever. (Plus, any referee who ever makes a call that adversely affects his Packers...YOU'RE FIRED!)
Democratic, Republican, and Independent outrage over a few botched calls in profession sports will not impact our true national pasttime...teacher-bashing!
Don't hold your breath waiting for yellow or red flags to be thrown for the personal fouls and outrages that regularly occur in your classroom...
...don't wait for any review from on high to save you if your students fail to pass muster on the next round of standardized tests.
Your own personal "Education (Hunger) Games" will continue unabated...
...as our national master of ceremonies, Arne the Duncan, toys with the rules and the contestants to improve his ratings.
