Your Retiree Healthcare Decision Guide

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

As IEA President Cinda Clickna advised in the video...

...the decision is YOUR decision, a personal decision.

CATs used to ask me "What do I do?" when it came to retirement decisions. I declined to give any advice, except to "Call TRS". There was no way that I was going to offer any "jailhouse lawyer" advice on something of such importance and then feel responsible if the member became unhappy with her/his decision.

That position has not changed...

...the only change, I guess, it that my advice is now to "Call CMS" (or the health providers listed.)

BTW:

When I looked through the "Decision Guide" and got to the page that shows the map of Illinois, I thought, well, the "decision" for me is a no-brainer...that, for Alexander County, there is only one choice (United Healthcare) and not three.

However,

When I went to my mailbox yesterday, what did I find...

What the heck?

So, I asked myself:

"Self, what do I do?"

Self responded:

"Call CMS" (or the health providers listed.)

To which I responded:

"&%$#!"

Yes, I feel your pain...
