If you have missed it, New York City has emerged as a major battleground for the nationwide "opt out" movement...

...whereby parents notify the school district that their kids will not be taking the state tests, primarily because the tests are being used improperly...namely to evaluate teachers. The parents are also concerned over the narrowing of the curriculum due to the fixation on test prep, as well as the collection and sharing of data collected through the tests.

As you may have surmised, I am a great admirer of whimsy...

...oft resorting to same to skewer our own (former) "Big Bad Wolf", aka HWSRN.
