District Seeks Supreme Court Review in 'Boobies' Bracelets Case

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

From high expectations...

...to minds in the gutter?

I'm sorry, but I guess it's true...

...I'm guilty of what George W. Bush termed "the soft bigotry of low expectations."

I mean...

Wow!

Who knew that the activities described in the first article could be found in a 2nd Grade classroom?

Guess it really was time for this old dinosaur to mosey off into retirement, passing the torch to a new generation, schooled in ways and expectations of the modern world.

Bears (not the fuzzy fornicating kind) repeating:

WOW!

Hmmm...

The on-going mystery of the disappearance of the dinosaurs.

The speculation that an asteroid hit the earth, blacking out the sun, creating a nuclear-like winter, killing off the dinosaurs' vegan diet.

Maybe it was something simpler, more down to earth...

...that mama and papa dinosaur just didn't rub noses enough.

As for "earthy"...

...and what kind of bracelets middle-schoolers should or should not be wearing.

I shall defer to my favorite line from the movie "Separate But Equal" starring Sidney Poitier as then NAACP attorney Thurgood Marshall'''

...when Thurgood was trying to convince his hesitant organization (too far, too fast?) to challenge the law of the land, segregated public schools:

I only hope for the school district's sake, that unlike CSD #1 and their frivolous defense of the absurd, that they have some legal firm providing pro bono work.

If not, then pity the fools.

Taking a case to the United States Supreme Court will cost a helluva lot more than when CSD #1 faced off against James Gibson in an IELRB hearing at a hotel on the outskirts of Carbondale, IL.

So much money...

...so many scarce education dollars wasted.

All over a bracelet that most people probably didn't even notice until some righteous administrator invoked the wrath and the power of God...
