CAT Tracks for December 11, 2013
CSD #1 DELAYED START ON THURSSDAY |
UPDATE III at 6 p.m. Wednesday:
Apparently Wednesday was so much fun, we shall do it again Thursday!
UPDATE II at 4 a.m. Wednesday:
Catty commentary follows the school closings link.
UPDATE I at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday:
A text message was received at 7:15 p.m. by some teachers...
...that faculty and staff must report on Wednesday morning by 8:15.
Stay tuned...
Original post follows...
School is scheduled to start on Wednesday, December 11th, at 9 a.m. with limited bus pick-up (at four locations.)
Pre-K (both morning and afternoon) will be in session, but there will be NO BUS SERVICE.

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
I added some catty commentary to the "7:30 p.m. Update" to the Wednesday late start post that I e-mailed to CAT Tracks subscribers...
i.e. a warning for faculty and staff to be careful not to fall and bust their butts on the icy sidewalks and in the icy parking lots.
I would add this "well, duh" observation...
When you see a school district announce that "bus pick-up will be limited", then it's too damn dangerous to have school.
I cannot speak from first-hand knowledge as to the condition of the sidewalks, parking lots, and streets at Cairo Elementary School and Cairo Junior/Senior High School...
...the reason being that I thought it prudent not to venture forth into those uncharted (frozen) waters.
This decision was based upon my driving to the post office yesterday, including a side trip to Wickliffe.
The highways are clear.
But...
Not knowing what conditions awaited me if I turned off the highway onto the CJSHS grounds (whether District personnel had been at work cleaning same), I chose to simply return to my house.
And...
When my car slid on the "pavement" between Washington Avenue and Elm while simply coasting, I chose not to turn and travel two blocks north to scope out Cairo Elementary.
Idle catty speculation...
Maybe they are asking faculty and staff to report early so that you don't run over any of the students walking in the street in order to get to the four designated bus pick-up points. (This is one time when you can't blame the students for walking in the streets. The sidewalks are nasty and dangerous.)
Be careful out there...
...and good luck on your day!
:-(
One final comment...
So much for December ADA (Average Daily Attendance...the best three months determining state aid.)
Since December is a short month (with vacation), along with the various holiday festivities serving as "a draw", it has the possibility of being one of the "good months" to boost said state aid.
After Wednesday's expected spotty attendance, forgetaboutit
