ILLINOIS PRIMARY ELECTION

Earlier today, I forwarded an e-mail from IEA recommending Sen. Kirk Dillard for Republican nomination for governor.

As an intro, I wrote the following:

Well, our Region 2 UniServ Director pounced, saying that as long as you are a registered IL voter, you are eligible to vote in the Republican primary.

Oops!

Guess that shows what happens when you grow up in a Democratic household in a predominantly Democratic city. I thought IL had a "closed primary" system and a person could only change affiliation by giving like a year's notice. So much for "ass-u-me"!

The deadline for registering to vote in IL is this coming Monday, February 18th (if you are not already registered.)

If you are a registered voter, all you need to do is go to the proper polling place and request the ballot of your choice...Democratic or Republican. Yes, you must PUBLICLY ask for one or the other. If you consider your party affiliation a "private matter", well, stay home and wait for the general election!

Hey, guess this just goes to show that old cats are smarter than old dogs...

...world renowned for not being able to learn new tricks!

Wow...

...for sure, this will be my first time voting in the Republican Primary. (I kinda think I voted for a Republican in a General Election, once or twice, but I could be wrong, more often simply leaving an office blank if I didn't like the Democratic choice...like Barack Obama last time, as well as the Mighty Quinn the first time.)

Below is a press release about the upcoming Illinois Primary (that includes a link that you can click to find out if you are already registered, which I am.)

Happy voting...
