IEA'S ENDORSEMENT OF KIRK DILLARD |
From the Illinois Education Association
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
To engage in party raiding or not to engage in party raiding, that is the question.
I'm not really a fan of the practice.
To me, it's all about intent.
I mean, if a candidate for a particular office from the "other party" truly captures your imagination...
...so much so that you are willing to forgo your ability to cast votes in your normal party's primary for candidates of other offices, risking their election due to your lack of support...
...well, so be it.
Come election day...
...assuming that the candidate that you crossed over to support won the other party's nomination for that office and is now on the general election ballot...
...if you actually vote for that person for that office, then, I'm good with it.
However...
If on election day, you choose to support your party's candidate over the candidate whom you helped elect in the primary, I'm not so good with it. In fact, I'm morally opposed to it.
In other words...
If this disaffected voter chooses to go to the polls on March 18th and requests a Republican Party ballot and votes for Kirk Dillard, then on General Election day, I will cast my vote for Kirk Dillard if he is on the ballot.
However, if Kirk Dillard is not on the ballot, then for damn sure I will not be voting for the office of Governor (assuming that Pat Quinn gets the Democratic nomination.)
My question of the IEA...
What will be your recommendation for the General Election? In the event that when the primary dust settles, it's Dillard versus Quinn?
In short...
If Dillard gets the Republican nomination and Quinn gets the Democratic nomination and the IEA endorses Quinn, I am so done with the IEA!
