Competing Views of Teacher Tenure Are on Display in California Case

"...poor and minority students are frequently placed in front of incompetent teachers whose blackboards are filled with basic misspellings and who play irrelevant movies instead of devising lesson plans for class time."

What the articles never mention:

"Who in the hell put them there?"

I'll tell you who...

...the same lazy, incompetent administrators who if give the chance are going to fire outspoken tenured teachers and replace them with compliant sheep, are going to fire expensive tenured teachers and replace them with newbies for budgetary (not educational) reasons, or are going to fire tenured teachers who stand in the way of their friends or relatives getting a job.

So...

Why did the school districts hire these allegedly incompetent teachers in the first place and allow them to stay (in some states for as long as 5 years) and gain tenure?

And...

...more importantly, why should we think these administrators will do better if given a second bite at the apple?

The whole anti-tenure argument is bogus...

...or, more to the point, b*ll sh*t.
