DUNCAN GOES AFTER TEACHER TRAINING |
Again!
From the article:
Damned and determined to micromanage public education...
..."to destroy the village in order to save it."
From the New York Times
Obama Administration Plans New Rules to Grade Teacher Training Programs
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
Bears repeating...
I don't care what anybody (informed or otherwise) does with entrance qualifications, training, and certification of teachers. Wannabe teachers can decide whether or not it's worth it.
But...
After the teacher is anointed and achieves tenure, the teacher should have the due process protections that (used to, at least) come with tenure.
Teacher evaluation based on student test scores...
...an invalid, unreliable, stupid idea.
PS:
I liked the analogy about the evaluation of "doctors of aids patients"...
...fire 'em all!
Train and hire more plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and such...
...their patients usually live!
Two years ago, the administration tried to devise a proposal for rating teacher training programs, but the committee created to develop the rules could not agree and the proposal stalled. David M. Steiner, the dean of the School of Education at Hunter College in New York, who served on the rule-making committee in 2012, said he hoped the administration would be more successful this time.
