CSD: PUBLIC HEARING & SPECIAL MEETING |
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
Ha!
Mention the "cat curiosity" thing and who should step up her game?
Madam CAT President!
Below is her report from Thursday night's Public Hearing and Special Meeting:
1. Adopt the amended budget for FY 2013-2014.
2. Employ Rose Gayle Pickett as principal at Cairo Elementary for the 2014-2015 school year.
3. Accept Rose Gayle Pickett’s resignation at the end of 2015-2016 school year.
Adjourn: 6:50
Thank you, De De O'Shea, for keeping us informed!
PS: Madam President received a couple of financial handouts during the Budget Hearing. I have sandwiched them between the notices/agendas below.
PPS: I offer no additional explanation of the District finances - been there, done that - except to say that the notation: "Unbalanced budget, however, a deficit reduction plan is not required at this time" says it all. In other words, despite spending more last year than they took in, the District is still the envy of the vast majority of districts in Illinois. Very few, if any, have a nest overflowing with golden eggs!
The original post follows...
The Cairo Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting on Thursday, June 26th at 6 p.m.
This meeting will be preceded at 5:45 p.m. by a Public Hearing on "the amended budget (2013-2014) for Cairo School District No. One."
The notices and agendas for both meetings immediately follow...
Meeting called to order at 6:00. Gabriel Harris was acting president. Also in attendance were Mary Coleman, Brenda Gooden, Sheila Nelson, and Arnold Burris. No one addressed the board. Approved agenda. Went into closed session at 6:05. Rodney Moore arrived at 6:10. Came out a 6:45.
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
Don't hold your breath for any stinking minutes...
...as last night's marathon met and exceeded my contractual "in the trenches" reporting obligations to CAT for this month!
If the cat curiosity thing gets the best of you, feel free to attend Thursday's meeting(s) yourself. Hey, send me a summary and I shall publish, giving you your very own byline! And, as a bonus for your efforts, you will receive my regular compensation for attending/reporting said meetings!
