LAND OF QUINN

Ya know...

If this were the United States of America, there would be no Chief Executive withholding the pay of Legislators until they do his bidding...

...it's called Separation of Powers.

Although the Illinois Constitution was patterned after the United States Constitution, evidently in the Land of Quinn, such principles do not apply.

The Mighty, Mouthy, Pouty Quinn has outlived his usefulness as Governor...

looooooooooooog ago!

It's time for him to go.

The Illinois General Assembly needs to grow some ba..., uh, backbone.

Since the Governor clearly likes ultimatums, the General Assembly needs to issue one of its own!

They need to notify his highness that if he follows through on his ultimatum that there will be a test, a spelling test...

Governor Quinn, can you spell I-M-P-E-A-C-H-M-E-N-T?

Unfortunately...

The Governor is playing his games with a stacked deck or at least with an ace up his sleeve, an ace called Michael Madigan...the Illinois Speaker of the House.

Madigan has publicly endorsed the Governor's action.

Since it is the House of Representatives that would have to start the impeachment process, Grumpy Old Quinn doesn't have to worry about "consequences". That's just for the legislative branch!

The former Land of Lincoln evidently has only two branches of government now, rather than the three spelled out in the Illinois Constitution.

My fellow social studies teachers...

Be sure to change your answer keys:

Actually, I guess the jury is still out...

How 'bout them judges, Governor?

If some silly legislator files suit for you holding her/his pay and should some audacious judge rule in her/his favor...

Who'll be the next in line for "consequences"?

Hmmm...

One down, one to go!

Then it will be official...

King Quinn!
