REAL TALK FOR REAL TEACHERS

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Updated four hours after posting...

...to include a sample reading.

A new book by Rafe Esquith...

...author of "Teach Like Your Hair's on Fire: The Methods and Madness Inside Room 56".

Although it's too late to do me any good, my curiosity streak is alive and well.

And, hey! If Mighty Mouth Quinn gets his way and ends pension life as we know it, I might have to get re-certified and re-enter the trenches. This old CAT might need a new bag of tricks!)

So...

I'm going to give this new book a try.

Don't expect a full-fledged review, but I will likely have something to say about it...

...don't I always!

From the Washington Post...

The world's most famous teacher blasts school reform

UPDATE:

God is great...

...inventing Google!

(BTW: Before you go casting "blasphemy" stones, my God has a wonderful sense of humor...including "dark humor", as borne witness with the creation of school board members!)

Downloaded my copy of book...

...well, Rafe had me at "Hello" (aka "Prologue".)

Out of curiosity, I Googled and, sure enough, the prologue was online (along with a sample of the book.)

Maybe you veteran teachers could use a boost as you "look forward" to the coming year. (As you know, the end is near!)
