Siblings' Disabilities Linked to Academic Troubles for Brothers, Sisters

As a bleeding heart liberal...

I can empathize, I can sympathize, but I'm not sure there's a whole lot a teacher can do about it.

I would dare say that a study of siblings in families affected by divorce, domestic violence, unemployment, foreclosure, alcohol/drug abuse, and the like would find similar if not worse results.

Unfortunately, some kids are forced to grow up sooner than others...

...maybe in the long run, it enables them to handle their own "adult problems" better than children from "lucky" families.
