ANOTHER EDUCATION GURU

This time it's FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel...

...telling teachers what and how to teach.

Sigh...

FCC urges tech industry to reinvent textbooks, teaching

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Look, I'm all ranted out for today.

In fact, trying to stem the push to flood schools with digital devices is like the little Dutch boy with his finger in the levee...

...except this story won't have a storybook happy ending.

I'm thinking "digital devices" needs to join the "CCSS" on my banned list!

Just one thing...

This article like many before it uses the term "digital disruption" as a good thing...

...technology, the ideal weapon of mass destruction, to knock those damn sages off of their stages, to turn teachers into passive guides (innocent bystanders?) on the side. (No, no, no, teachers will never, ever be considered "innocent", will still be held accountable for the chaos they were ordered to create, then stood up before the "firing squad".

As Senator Patty Murray is fond of saying (from an opposite perspective):

"That's just not fair."

Sadly, such is the sorry lot of a 21st Century teacher...

Look, there is a bottom line to the whole myth of downtrodden students who supposedly thirst for knowledge, who allegedly long for engagement, students whose "civil rights" advocates claim they are thwarted in their educational pursuits by "bad teachers".

Let's conduct a test (albeit a non-standardized test) that will readily reveal the commitment of students to their education:

Turn off the Internet firewall at school...

...and see what happens, see what "educational websites" the students visit!

Make your grandmother spit out her false teeth!!!
