Arne Duncan: Improving American education is not optional
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
The United States Secretary of Education continues to speak with forked tongue...
...and yet he praises the progress that has been made in education over the past 15 years when former President George W. Bush first inflicted his NCLB mandate upon school children everywhere.
And what has Duncan done (at the behest of President Barack Obama?)
Arne, the Duncan, has dropped the hammer of money (RTTT) on the "prescriptive and punitive interventions", nailing teachers' hides to the wall, mandating that they be evaluated on the basis of test scores and fired for results and circumstances beyond their control, namely: P-O-V-E-R-T-Y.
Arne, the Duncan, pontificates that there are "too many tests (that)take up too much time, leaving many educators, families and students feeling frustrated" and that "we must eliminate redundant and unnecessary ones", namely all the "state tests" while still mandating yearly PARCC testing of the national CCSS standards (ostensibly created by governors but financed by Bill Gates and required by the Obama administration to receive M-O-N-E-Y.)
To hammer down Duncan's hypocrisy, Arne proposes limits on testing time and preparation...
...ordering another unfunded mandate...
...that schools must keep track of test-related time and report any excess to the parents! (Hmmm...maybe they could include that information with the letter that they are already required to send out when their students "fail" to meet the NCLB standards...unless of course their state gets that "Duncan Waiver" to enforce his whims instead of the "prescriptive and punitive interventions" of his reviled, yet praised, predecessor.
Wow, what a tangled web Arne, the Duncan, weaves as he continues to deceive any gullible enough to listen.
Bears repeating:
Arne Duncan, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH...
...SPIN, SPIN, SPIN...
...LIE, LIE, LIE!!!
Whew...
...need to end this post on a light note.
I mean...
...according to the weather forecast, this promises to be beautiful winter's day, another Saturday ( a real one that we call all enjoy, not just the retired among us.)
So, let me close with a suitable update...
...kinda like replacing NCLB with RTTT:

"Few would question that No Child Left Behind — the most recent version of ESEA — needs to be replaced. No Child Left Behind brought valuable attention to the needs of vulnerable student groups, but its prescriptive and punitive interventions have left it reviled by educators. It’s time for a new law."
