Cairo, IL developing land for job growth

Have been wondering about this massive clean-up for months...

...even took a few pictures, meaning to post them with an appeal of: "Whassup?"

And, even though I check the local news outlets (including KFVS) twice a day for CAT Tracks fodder, I missed this January 12th post until I made this morning's infrequent visit to the Cairo Topix forum.

Drove by the site on Wednesday and they had five cranes working it. (The area is located immediately north and west of the Daystar Care Center...at the intersection of Center Street and Holbrook Avenue.)

That area has been an overgrown eyesore for decades. I just hope and pray that, regardless of whether the "build it and they will come" venture works, that the city will continue basic maintenance (i.e. mowing) so that it does not revert to its previous state. Too many lots have been cleaned up in Cairo only to revert to wilderness form as Mother Nature reclaims it.
