BAH HUMBUG! |
From eSchool News
Competition essential to solving U.S. STEM gap
Grumpy CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
Bah Humbug...
...tempered from my actual original B*** S*** exclamation.
Tis the season...
...to be nice.
But, really...
What part of this sentence...
...did I (or they!) not understand?
How is it the fault of teachers and schools if there are three times as many STEM degree holders as there are STEM degree employees?
Seems to me, the problem of "engagement" is with employers rather than those making sure that students are ready for college and/or careers.
A story typical of tunnel vision "education reformers"...
...ignore the "data god" when it doesn't suit their talking points.
Instead, condemn the teachers and public education...
...full speed ahead!
Liar, liar, pants on fire!!!
"According to the U.S. Census Bureau and other data, total STEM employment in 2012 was 5.3 million (immigrant and native), while there are over 12.1 million STEM degree holders (immigrant and native)."
