SPECIAL BOE MEETINGS

Due to the weather...

...two Special Meetings replaced the Regular Monthly Meeting of the Cairo Board of Education.

The notices and agendas for each meeting are immediately below...

...followed by some very brief remarks:

Combined "Minutes":

First of all, all BOE members were present for both meetings.

As a result of the first meeting concerning "student discipline"...

...the student in question was expelled for the remainder of this school year and all of next school year. (Specified ending date was June 3, 2016...the estimated final day of student attendance of the 2015-2016 School Year.)

The second "regular meeting" went according to the agenda.

The BOE voted to enter closed session at 6:57 p.m. The BOE voted to exit closed session at 9:43 p.m.

The JH Girl's Track Coach hired was Carlois Rena Adams.

The March Regular Meeting was changed from Thursday the 19th to Monday the 16th.

In a recurring theme, BOE Member Rodney Moore inquired as to whether there had been any progress in negotiations with the teachers. Superintendent Andrea Evers reiterated that a joint committee of CSD administrators and teachers were attending a trio of PERA meetings being held in Centralia with representatives of other districts and outside consultants...the hope being that a teacher evaluation instrument that meets the new state legislation will be developed and be ready to be ratified by both parties. Then, in April, negotiations on a new contract will commence...with an optimistic conclusion by the end of June.

The BOE voted to adjourn at 9:49 p.m.
