Federal Judge: Union Suit Over Dues Belongs in State Court
3 State Workers Seek to Join Rauner Lawsuit Over Union Dues
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
It's a two-fer!
- The first article...well, duh! It's a state matter, it gets heard in state court. Rauner is showing his basic ignorance (contempt?) of the law and his naivete as a politician...and his grumpy old man persona. The United States Constitution specifies the types of cases the federal courts have jurisdiction over...and this ain't one of them. Patience, as they say, Bruce, is a virtue...which you obviously don't possess. Yes, if you lose at the state level, you could appeal to the federal system, and maybe eventually make it to the United States Supreme Court. However, it's not likely to happen in your lifetime as Governor, but that the way the judicial system works. Get used to it!
- As for the second...most likely some fine, upstanding Republicans who rail against "welfare"...but now want their own "free ride". I'll bet you dollars to donuts that if you offered these three "deprived of their First Amendment right of Free Speech" an option: (1.) Keep your dues money in your pocket BUT give up the higher wages and benefits negotiated by the union, or (2.) Keep your higher salary and benefits BUT pay your dues, the money that supports negotiations...well, they would take Door Number 2. These workers and their like "want to have their cake and eat it too". How do you spell: H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y?
