...I resemble that remark!

Okay, the real reason that I chose to post this article was because of the following line:

Thought it timely in light of the previous post...

...wherein the Illinois General Assembly (at the urging of new Republican Governor Bruce Rauner) voted to divert highway funds and steal money from the education of children.

Kinda screams "lack of empathy"!

Guess it speaks to my liberal bent...

...I was in favor of making the temporary IL income tax permanent.

I would prefer to pay higher taxes for road maintenance rather than for wheel alignments and ruined tires.

Also, at my advanced age, dodging potholes tests the limits of my mental alertness and physical dexterity.

And, talk about "high-stakes testing"...

...failure to successfully navigate the pothole-strewn pavement and losing control of one's vehicle could result in a face-to-face with St. Peter.

And, as they say, you can't take it with you!

As for cutting funding to education...

...well, let me revert to my grumpy old man persona and say:

"Goldurnit, just what we need, dumber kids!"
