Well, that didn't take long!

Immediately below is the calendar for next year...

...first the 'complicated' version, followed by the simple version:

Finally, the "minutes":

  1. 6 p.m. with all BOE members present.

  2. Members of the Class of 2018 along with two of their sponsors, informing the BOE of their efforts to raise money for a Senior trip when their time to graduate comes. In their Freshman year, they have already raised $1,100. The Class of 2018 is also in the process of developing a website.

  3. Steven Tarver used this time to inform the BOE that his group (sorry, I didn't catch the name) has raised money $2,000 with the intention of honoring Cairo Elementary students for achievement. There will be a catered banquet on May 16th (by invitation only.)

  4. Done without question or discussion.

    • a. Description of the Vision 20/20 participants...various groups whose goal is to celebrate public education. The Cairo BOE has been asked to support the cause by passing the resolution that was part of the additions to the amended agenda. [9.(7)]

      b. Report on the PERA meeting held this past Monday at Kaskaskia College in Centralia...the purpose of which was to develop a teacher evaluation system. The evaluation tool (which includes 25% tied to student growth) is being readied for presentation, discussion, modification, and adoption.

      c. This would then clear the way for the commencement of BOE-CAT negotiations for a new contract. (Three possible dates in the second half a May were discussed. Stay tuned.)

  5. As listed with the following specifics:

      (4) Special BOE Meeting on May 4th beginning at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of seating and organizing the new board.

      (5) BOE training session will be on May 12 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

      (6) Special BOE Meeting to consider Superintendent Contract Extension will be on April 23rd beginning at 6 p.m.

  6. Other - For some reason, the checks received are not longer listed on the agenda.

  7. The BOE voted to enter closed session at 6:33 p.m. and glory hallelujah they voted to exit closed session at 6:48 p.m. (Christmas done come to Cairo in the middle of April!!!)

  8. What you see (on the AMENDED agenda) is what you got. The hiring and reclassification for Parent Educator and Coordinator of Parent Education was prompted by a redoing of the grant, allowing two instead of just one. The salary for the new position - the Coordinator of Parent Education, who is Erica Brazier, is $35,407.26. (Michelle Jackson's hiring was effective immediately. Michelle's salary was not mentioned.)

  9. No Old Business

  10. The BOE voted to adjourn at 6:59 p.m.

Bears repeating...

Glory Hallelujah!!!
