Not pictured are the remains of the northern portion of the old Burkhart building...

...which for a long time now have rested in various unsightly piles.

Either the demolition crew abandoned the effort after they got what they wanted...

...or they have temporarily moved on to greener pastures, i.e. Cairo buildings with marketable bricks, lumber, and/or steel...

...and will return later for the final clean-up.

We shall hope for the latter.

I will miss that old building in the 800 block of Commercial...

...always like the distinctive architecture.

But...

...like all the previously demolished buildings before it, it's best to have a vacant lot than a crumbling eyesore.
