ONLINE PARCC RESULTS LOWER THAN PAPER-PENCIL RESULTS |
From Diane Ravitch's Blog
Students Who Took PARCC Test Online Got Lower Scores
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
In Illinois, 75% of the students (including all of those in Cairo School District Number One) took the PARCC test online.
So...
...it is interesting to note in Diane's closing paragraph that:
No curious-cat gene them!
So...
...with much of the rest of the country bailing on Common Core and PARCC, ISBE shrugs off the discrepancy and doesn't seem to care.
With apologies to Admiral Farragut...
...in Illinois, it's:
Damn the data, full speed ahead!
ISBE cares more about the legacy of its favorite sons - President Obama and his former Secretary of Education - than the sons (and daughters) of the other residents of Illinois.
That's exactly why my reaction was subdued with the passage of ESSA which returned control of education back to the states.
I just knew that in Illinois, it would be business as usual...
...heads planted firmly in the sand, butts swaying in the breeze.
"In December, the Illinois state board of education found that 43 percent of students there who took the PARCC English/language arts exam on paper scored proficient or above, compared with 36 percent of students who took the exam online. The state board has not sought to determine the cause of those score differences."
