Tied 4-4 after Scalia's death, high court gives unions a win

From The Southern Illinoisan

U.S. Supreme Court deadlock in union case could have implication in Illinois

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Look, if you don't agree with the United States government (or even the State of Illinois), you don't get a free pass to disobey the laws of same or to refuse to pay taxes.

So, if you don't agree with everything your union says, you shouldn't get a free ride, get to withhold your union dues...

...especially since you won't turn down the salary and benefit increases negotiated by the union (not given freely by the Sweet Old Boss.)

Plus, the union must represent you when you fall out of favor with the powers that be.

Our system of democracy says that the majority rules...

...and the minority retains their "freedom of speech", the right to voice their objections and try to become the new majority.

Rauner and his millionaire and billionaire buddies hate unions because they have the unmitigated gall to stand up and disagree, to exercise their freedom of expression, with the necessary numbers to back it up. The bosses don't want workers to have the right to negotiate salary and working conditions. The bosses want the power to give the workers whatever they damn well please.

As Lord Acton so aptly put it: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Get rid of the unions and there will be only one right left for the workers, the right to beg.

Solidarity forever!
