Charlotte Danielson on Rethinking Teacher Evaluation

Below is a post from 2013 which still rings timely to me...

From Huffington Post

Who Is Charlotte Danielson and Why Does She Decide How Teachers Are Evaluated?

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

On one point made by the blogger above, I have to heartily agree:

Ironically, in a pretty comprehensive search on the Internet, I have had difficulty discovering who Charlotte Danielson really is and what her qualifications are for developing a teacher evaluation system.

I finally decided to Google Charlotte Danielson to get her Wikipedia page...

...and got Danielson, "an American rock band from Clarksboro in East Greenwich Township, New Jersey, that plays indie pop gospel music."

WTF?!

I mean, where's Charlotte Danielson??? Anybody who is anybody has a Wikipedia page!!! Whassup with that!?

Oh, well, both Danielson groups are based in New Jersey. As a line from the Broadway sensation "Hamilton" reminds us: "Everything's legal in Jersey!"

I would really, really, really like to see the specifics of her teaching career - when, where, and how long at each level. For all any of us know, she taught for a year in a one-room schoolhouse back in the dark ages, found out that she couldn't handle it, and became the rock-star, book-writing consultant.

Danielson, Smanielson...

...another reason I thoroughly enjoy my exalted status of "Retiree".

Allow me to conclude this post on an upbeat note:

The CJSHS marquee's countdown scroll this morning should celebrate that:

Only 26* days are left in the school year!

*Okay, okay, my commitment to accuracy outweighs my attempt at being morale officer. The marquee count does not include the institute day and the final, what used to be "turn in the keys" day. So, actually, for teachers, it's 26 plus 2.
