The Cairo Board of Education conducted a Public Hearing on the Budget (2015-2016) prior to it's Regular Meeting on Thursday, September 24, 2015.

"Minutes"

All BOE members were present except for Sheila Nelson (who was reportedly attending a training session.)

CSD Bookkeeper/Accountant Janiece Gibson conducted the Public Hearing on the proposed 2015-2016 Budget. A couple of handouts from that hearing are below.

Moving on to the Regular Meeting...

There was a lengthy Examples of Excellence presented by CE Principal Rose Gayle Pickett and Kindergarten Teacher De De O'Shea. This was followed by a report from CJSHS Principal Nate Porter. Finally, a gentleman (whose name I did not catch) addressed the BOE concerning the BOE's issuance of $605,000 Taxable Gewneral Obligation Refunding School Bonds...the previously discussed "buying back the District's debt" from the August meeting.

In the "Report of the Superintendent"/Informational section, Superintendent Andrea Evers read numerous items from a handout that was evidently in the BOE packets.

The BOE voted to enter Closed Session at 7 p.m. The BOE voted to exit Closed Session at 7:40 p.m.

There were no resignations.

Under "Hiring(s):

a. Truancy Coordinator - District-Wide - Hope Green

b. CJHS Assistant Girls Basketball Coach - Kaylee Justice

c. CJHS Scholar Bowl - Jennifer Barnhill

Everything else listed on the agenda was approved without comment or discussion.

The BOE voted to adjourn at 7:49 p.m.
