I am sharing an e-mail I received yesterday...
...for two reasons:
- Unless you are fortunate enough to be grazing in the pasture, you don't get these bulletins, which contain information interesting and valuable to active teachers and even the general public.
- And, more personally, it provides a breakdown on the new rules concerning substitute teaching, the ones enabling retirees to return to the classroom.
Specifically:
- Reduces substitute teaching license fees from $100 to $50.
- Creates a one-year grace period for retired teachers with lapsed licenses to bring their license into good standing without fines or coursework, allowing them to substitute teach.
- Prevents educators who retire mid-cycle from lapsing their licenses, allowing them to substitute teach.
- Allows educators licensed in other states to obtain an Illinois license through a more streamlined process.
- Creates a one-year provisional in-state endorsement on a provisional educator license with stipulations to allow candidates that have met all other requirements except passage of the edTPA examination.
Item #3 above was the aforementioned reason that I was denied the ability/opportunity to substitute teach (well, along with all the red tape and nit-picky hoops to navigate.)
But, Item #2 fixes that...
...allows me to come back!
Oh Happy Day!!!

Speaking of "Happy Day(s)"...
Let me check my calendar...
...what is today?
Oh, yeah, it's Saturday...
...as is tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, etc.
That's my "alternative fact" and I'm sticking to it!
So, bears repeating:
Don't call me!!!
