DEFICIT IDEOLOGY

Impact of Poverty on Students: All in Their Minds?

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

"Fat shaming" is getting a lot of play in the current presidential campaign.

Well, the concept of deficit ideology is "poor shaming".

As the 1% count their billions, pay members of Congress to pass tax loopholes and fight to hide their tax returns...

...they try to deflect their advantage by claiming that those less fortunate than they are disadvantaged because they simply don't work as hard, don't try as hard, as they.

When Donald Trump, accused of not paying any taxes during this week's debate, glibly remarked "I'm smart", well...

...that was the shame.

For every poor person who grabs herself/himself by the proverbial bootstraps and pulls herself/himself out of poverty, there are hundreds, thousands, millions who don't...

...and then are put into the position of feeling guilty because they are told, preached at, that:

"This is America, where you can do anything you want if you work hard, even grow up to be President."

Yeah, right...
