WAS FLYNN ACTING ALONE? |
Wow, Mitch McConnell being dragged kicking and screaming into the fray...
From CNN
McConnell: Flynn investigation 'highly likely' in Senate committee
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
First of all, yes, like yesterday, I am citing an article from CNN, that "known perpetrator of fake news".
I was called out for this yesterday (jokingly so) by a loyal reader of CAT Tracks. As I explained, I have been following the controversy in The Washington Post and The New York Times but they have pay walls and those pesky prohibitions on copyright infringement. So, for CAT Tracks, I use sources like CNN that non-subscribers can access. Trust me on this, the WP and the NYT are saying the same things, but, then again, of course they would...just more of the liberal press opposed to The Good King Donald.
Okay, with that disclaimer, two passages from the article stood out to me.
The first:
Yes! "What did the president know and when did he know it?" And, did he, in fact, send Flynn on the mission to smooth things over with his buddy Putin. Enquiring minds want to know.
Secondly:
Now here's the Republican response I expected, totally in line with The Donald's worldview: "How did the media find out about this?! WRONG!!!"
They don't care what Flynn did. They don't want to know (if they don't already know.) They just want to know where the White House leaks are so that they can plug them before any other scandals are exposed.
Had to love that even Kellyanne "Alternative Facts" Conway was at a loss for words this time...
Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican, said that Trump should be asked if he directed Flynn to talk with Russian officials, "I think that should be asked to the president. To the question of executive privilege as to the president should discuss you know what he knows."
Other Republicans have called for an investigation into the leaks over the information related to Flynn, instead of into the actions of the former national security adviser himself.
