After seeing the picture above, I ventured forth to see for myself:




I still find it sad, the location of these murals...

...that they were not painted at the opening in the levee at 8th Street.

Granted, it's not "pretty" on 8th Street anymore, but it is wide-open spaces, providing a clear view from Commercial.

And...

...hopefully the current demolition clean-up will be completed in time for the annual Cairo Blues Festival. The murals would have been a nice backdrop as people gathered.

The area has been made even more depressing by the closing of the Delta Center/SCC extension site. The weeds were growing tall until the city workers came in with the heavy duty mowers this week, as evidenced by the grass refuse on the left:



Oh well...

...with the distracting surroundings, the murals are still nice.
