CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

A reminder...

Primaries for state offices are a winnowing process, narrowing Republican candidates and Democratic candidates to one each who will then face each other in the November General Election. Many voters choose to skip the primaries and wait for the "real" election before trudging to the polls.

However...

In Alexander County, no Republicans filed for the three offices up for election (Clerk, Treasurer, Sheriff), so the winner of the Democratic Primary gets the office with no further elections. So, this is not an election to skip if you are concerned about who controls your local affairs for the next four years.

So, places to go, people to choose on Tuesday.
