ROUTE 146 TO EAST CAPE IS CLOSED

From KFVS TV Channel 12

Rte. 3 and Rte. 146 to close due to high water from Mississippi River flooding

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

In another wrinkle, the entrance to I-57 South at Cairo has been closed for the past few days, including yesterday (Friday). Once you make it onto I-57 South (following posted detours), it's smooth sailing through Charleston and Sikeston to Cape. (Been there, done that, twice this past week.) Fortunately, the water (for now) is not posing any problems from Cairo to Paducah, and there's always Marion/Carbondale.

BTW: City officials re-closed the 8th Street Ohio River levee in Cairo weeks ago, but the 4th Street entrance remains open, indicating that the water currently is not at a dangerous level from that direction. Traffic has been banned from the Mississippi River levee road.

So, life goes on in Cairo...

...although the wind did try to blow us away yesterday evening!
