New bill aims to reverse end-of-career benefit limits for teachers

This "problem" came about because many school districts in Illinois were providing their superintendents with "golden parachutes".

Sadly, the "fix" was to place limits on regular "salary schedule" raises (and extra-duty stipends) for teachers. This "fix" has created a bookkeeping nightmare for school districts fearing they will inadvertently exceed the new 3% limit on TRS salary/benefit increases and have to pay penalties.
