LETTER TO THE EDITOR

From the May 3, 2007, Cairo Citizen...

Congrats to Mayor Childs and Cairo Council

Dear Editor:

I am writing regarding the recently elected leadership for Cairo. Congratulations to Mayor Childs, Council Member at Large, Mrs. Jackson and the City Council members.

Since returning home 14 years ago, I've observed and experienced how people are treated who have goals, dreams, and visions. And, I've observed and experienced how people attempt to accomplish their goals, dreams and visions for the greater community. It is my opinion and feeling that Mayor Childs will listen to the community and will continue to make meetings open and welcome to the community as Mayor Farris did during his term.

I have known Mayor Judson Childs, since high school, Mr. Childs, in my opinion, is a man of integrity, a Christian, a husband, a father, a friend, a people person, a fair-minded person, etc. "Judson" is a man who has come a long way to become the Mayor of Cairo during this time of change (2007-2011). I believe he will be a role model for all leaders and the community at large in his positive approach to bringing the community together--to grow and to prosper. Mayor Childs, I am proud of your accomplishment.

It is my prayer that Mayor Childs and the City Council will be open to (1) working together and (2) working with the community to move forward in a positive manner.

I've heard and read that there is a potential to bring 2 MILLION to 3.5 BILLION DOLLARS to Cairo and Alexander County in the form of industry and jobs. When this money comes to the City and County, or when any substantial monies come to the City and County, or when any substantial monies come to the City and County, I pray that the Mayor and Council will envision, dream, and plan BIG WAYS for ALL CITIZENS, our City and our County to benefit and prosper. I pray and ask those who voted for and those who did not vote for the Mayor and City Council to support our new leaders as they intelligently, conscientiously, compassionately, prayerfully and positively guide us through the years ahead. I pray they will guide us with a positive vision, positive action and inclusive attitude.

Mayor Childs, I am proud of you. Finally, I pray that Mr. Childs and the City Council will go forward in peace to love and serve the Lord as the bridge builder LEADERSHIP TEAM for Cairo.

Sincerely,

Lillian L. Ford, Educator and Community Member
