CAT Tracks for March 27, 2013
YOU CAN RUN...

...but you cannot hide.

The truth of that adage was driven home to me yesterday.

I took the liberty of relating my recent medical adventures with my lengthy CAT Tracks of March 22nd, my intent being to tell it once and for ALL and move on. Don't know how many of my 9 lives I used up over the course of the past month or so, but, throughout it all, I have tried to maintain my sense of irony and my sense of humor...albeit often of the gallows variety.

Well, yesterday's scheduled follow-up appointment with the throat cutter - aka, thoracic surgeon - provided me with additional fodder.

During our session, the surgeon told me the official name of what actually happened to me when he opened the 90+ percent blocked carotid artery...the blood rush that overloaded my brain.

The official medical term:

Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome

Well, even though I usually look for such things, well...I've been sick. I probably would not have noticed the irony if they had not used the acronym for the term throughout the remainder of the article...

Yep, CHS.

Damn, how appropriate...always knew that place was going to lay me low, be the death of me! Silly me to think that I had escaped with my retirement in 2008.

And...

If you like icing on your ironies...

The opening paragraph of the article that I read about CHS said that one possible outcome of having such an episode is dementia. Yep, adding insult to injury, I will now live in mortal fear for the rest of my days of Cerebral hyperperfusion Dementia...

CSD

Bears repeating...

Dayum!
